Python Emoji Challenge & Hidden Figures – Tech, Role Models, and Strong Voices at Potsdamer Platz

Participants of the Python Emoji Challenge at Girls’Day 2025 outside the Berlin Potsdamer Platz venue.

During our second workshop on Girls’Day 2025, Train the Future focused on Python programming, strong female role models, and the power of self-confidence. 14 participants enjoyed an inspiring day in Berlin at Potsdamer Platz connecting technology and empowerment.

🎬 Daily Schedule:

  • Opening circle: “Which woman inspires you?”
  • Screening of the film “Hidden Figures”
  • Group dialogue on role models and career aspirations in STEM
  • Interactive coding workshop: Python Emoji Challenge

Following an in-depth discussion about the historical hurdles women faced in STEM professions, our founder Sama Tanveer shared personal insights from her career in technology. Then came hands-on coding: With the Python Emoji Challenge, the girls learned fundamental programming logic while creating playful, expressive mini-programs.

Due to overwhelming demand (with over 60 girls on the waitlist), we expanded our weekend workshop schedule to welcome more young female coders.

“I thought programming was only for boys – but Girls’Day was so cool, and now I really want to learn more!” – Participant, 11 years old
